We serve the needs of the low-income earners, the hungry, the rural farmers without access to adequate support, and the poverty-stricken population in Johannesburg. By providing access to food aid and humanitarian resources, we hope to put a smile on their faces and make life meaningful for them. There are around 2 million people living below poverty lines in Johannesburg. Out of this, figure around 40% accounts for households and individuals who cannot afford a meal on a given day. This 40% is our target and it is critical we reach them because the reduction for food insecure and hungry will lead to a productive and better society.
One of the critical success factors that are pertinent to Food Secure Now’s ability to serve the most vulnerable communities is through collaboration and a strong network of distributors. We value all our partners in the fight to end hunger, knowing that we are stronger together.
Given the numerous number of Beneficiary Organisations that require assistance, compared with the limited resources available to Food Secure, we support only the neediest and most credible beneficiary organisations as we have a fiduciary duty to be good stewards of the gifts that we receive. A minimum requirement for NPO’s it to at least have a current NPO registration number and certificate. As Food Secure we have put together resources and templates to assist smaller NGO’s in their efforts to confront poverty and food insecurity in cities, semi-urban and rural areas.
